Christmas lights – sure to get you in the festive spirit

Posted on

Food brings people together at Christmas time – but the thing my mother is passionate about when it comes to spreading festive cheer is lights. Hundreds and thousands of fairy lights!!

Now this is no small fetish. She starts in June of each year decorating the inside of her windows with Christmas scenes. One year it was a “winter wonderland” theme. Last year, it was “Santa’s workshop”. This year the theme is taken from the movie The Polar Express, which stars Tom Hanks. It’s a magical movie and the three huge windows my mum and her very helpful neighbor have decorated is nothing short of amazing!! My mum has used her Christmas lights to raise money for the Cancer Council – it’s a cause close to her heart following her battle with cancer 10 years ago. It’s mum’s way of celebrating her survival and giving something back. Love you mum and I’m so proud of all your achievements and am so thankful for you everyday.

So, if you’re in Geelong, or passing through, make sure you come and see my mum’s house. She’s so far up there on Santa’s Christmas list that he regularly visits her place to greet kids that come by. If you know anyone who is interested in Christmas lights in Geelong, please pass on her address, or share this link on your favourite social networking site. Nothing makes mum happier than people coming to visit her house and there’s usually candy canes for the kids too.

Her address is:

59 Colorado Drive, Corio Victoria

Below as are photos of the display, which really don’t do it justice. In the comments section below share your stories about the kinds of things that get you in the Christmas spirit. Maybe it’s driving around looking for brightly lit houses like my mums – or maybe it’s cooking, eating, or decorating your Christmas tree.

Enjoy and remember to share this link – it would make my mum a very happy woman!
