A HUGE announcement for Uforic Food!
First of all, let me say sorry for being missing in action over the past few months. I have missed hanging out here and sharing food stories with you very, very much. However, I have been very much planning and making things happen behind the scenes for Uforic Food!
And, so I’m popping in to tell you what’s in store … and it’s huge!
I’m sure you’re adding it up in your head … recently married … she must be pregnant!
And while I am expecting the birth of something …. it’s not a baby in the literal sense.
Without further ado, I am very, very excited to announce that, along with my husband and in partnership with our family business – Uforic Food is moving into reality – into the here and now where you will be able to visit it, taste it, enjoy it …
We’re preparing to open – Uforic Food Cafe!
It’s pretty amazing to think that a little blog I started a bit over three years ago is about to materialise into real life! I have quit my secure job and thrown quite a bit of caution to the wind – but while I am a little scared – I am amazingly inspired to think that my foodie dream is coming true.
Come and see us at 1135 Surfcoast Highway, Torquay. We will open our doors on October 1.
I want to take this opportunity to say that this would not have come about, or have been possible, without our business partners – who are also my family. My dad and brother, who own a highly successful gourmet food business, called Anglesea Fruitz – have taken a chance on us and brought us into the fold of the family business. While I admit to being envious of what they have achieved over the past few years – and have taken so much pride in watching them grow in the foodie world – I could not be prouder and happier to be joining them on this journey. Matt and I together want to be sponges and to learn from their experiences and expertise – and I am thankful everyday that they are going to be right there beside us on this ride – because not many people who embark on their own small business get that sort of opportunity. I also can’t thank Matt’s family enough for being so supportive. We told his mum and dad via Skype while they were overseas – and while they certainly didn’t see this coming – they were immediately supportive. They are also amazing business people and we can’t wait to learn from them too.
In fact, the love and support we have had from all our friends and family has been incredible. Mum has already taken a lead role in the recipe inspiration stakes as we head over to her house tomorrow night to sample recipes which have inspired her as we work on the Spring menu.
I have had offers from all sorts of people to lend a hand if we need it. Seriously – how lucky are we?
And now we are in the full stages of planning! Matt, in his new role as Manager of the Awesome Coffee and Online Communications Departments will be completely rebuilding the blog to cater for its new phase as a real life cafe. However, the blog will continue and here I will share all my real life foodie inspiration, recipes and stories. The best part is that you can actually come in, say hi and enjoy some true Uforic food and ambiance. We’ll also be closing the cafe for exciting renovations. Can’t wait!
Have you ever thrown caution to the wind for a dream? What have your experiences been and if you could quit your job to run your own business, what would it be?
Also, we’d love to hear what you would like to see on the Uforic Food Cafe menu? Any favourite recipes? What do you like to eat when you go out for breakfast or lunch at a cafe? As readers of Uforic Food, you have been our long-time customers already and we want to know what you think!
See you back here soon with a fresh look and feel … and ready for a new and exciting journey!
